The trend today in housing is towards creating flexible living space, adaptable for the different phases of life. Two arguments support this development; first the creation of a sustainable, affordable model, and the second is to counteract the tendency towards isolation and particularly with regard to the elderly.
As they grow older, most people want to stay in the neighborhood they know. But there is a lack of flexible housing at affordable prices. What does an affordable apartment for the elderly look like?
Wood Hybrid House proposes maximal flexibility and energy efficiency. The characteristics of these construction system are optimised when built on multiple floor. In the same way the facade will also be build with a multiple layer wooden construction.
